Payment Systems and Financial Data
Richmond Iron processes all payments through PayPal on the PayPal platform. All payment interactions and data collection are redirected to PayPal and occur on PayPal’s servers and platform. PayPal is widely recognized as one of the safest if not THE safest way to make payments online. PayPal offers several layers of protection in addition to what you might have from your credit card issuer. For more information about buyer protections from PayPal go here: https://www.paypal.com/webapps/mpp/buyer-protection
Richmond Iron does not ever hold or retain credit card account or other payment specific information since it is all done on the PayPal platform. This should greatly reduce or eliminate the possibility that credit card or bank account information could be captured in a website attack on RichmondIron.com.
Order information including your e-mail address, name, address and phone number if provided is retained on our web servers for 3 years to support warranty claims and to provide discounts to repeat customers. This data may also be required for Sales Tax reporting.
Upon request, order information can be deleted and removed from our servers. Some information may be retained in server and software backups, but these locations are only accessible to system administrators and other people with the highest security authorizations on our systems and the web hosting providers systems.
All shipping is handled by UPS and names, addresses and phone numbers are transferred to the UPS systems to provide pickup and delivery of orders. Richmond Iron chooses to use UPS for shipping since it is a highly respected carrier and uses only professional UPS full time employee drivers to make deliveries. E-mails and E-mail Addresses
E-mail addresses and e-mails are used extensively to process orders and for correspondence. Richmond Iron restricts the use of e-mail addresses to order processing and tracking on the Richmond Iron WooCommerce web server platform and for correspondence. Richmond Iron uses Google G-Suite in the Cloud and Gmail through the Chrome browser to conduct e-mail correspondence which limits the exposure of e-mail address information to the Google servers and the encrypted browser connection leveraging Google’s anti virus, anti spam and privacy protections. While this is a secure way to handle e-mails and e-mail addresses, e-mail is inherently an insecure technology for communication and customers who want more security may want to create one time or anonymous e-mail accounts to place orders or conduct correspondence with Richmond Iron.
E-mails sent to RichmondIron.com or OKFoundry.com e-mail addresses other than webstore@RichmondIron.com, may be downloaded and read on corporate PC’s using Outlook or other e-mail readers. This would be typical for an ongoing correspondence for custom castings, but his avoided for web store orders of stock items.
O. K. Foundry Co., Inc. and Richmond Iron does not ever sell or distribute lists of e-mail addresses to any third party for marketing purposes and would only use e-mail addresses for marketing past customers if someone has explicitly opted in for promotional e-mails and any e-mail promotions would include an easy to use one-click opt out link.
